Kasich Approves Emergency Funding For Food Banks

While Congress continues fighting over cuts to the food stamp program, Ohio food banks are getting money from state government. Lisa Hamler-Fugitt of the Ohio Association of Foodbanks says Republican Governor John Kasich has signed five executive orders to provide emergency funding. The Governor says funding for food banks is not a political issue.

Ohio First Lady Karen Kasich has been active with a program providing extra food for at-risk low income students. Former Governor Ted Strickland, a Democrat, also provided emergency funding to food banks.
