Republican Ohio Governor John Kasich told reporters Thursday he is not ready to announce a bid for the White House, despite recent visits to early presidential primary states. Kasich goes back to South Carolina and New Hampshire next week, and is scheduled to speak Monday to the Detroit Economic Club. Kasich ran in the primary in the year 2000. When political junkies talk about who else might run for president—they talk about Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton. But John Kasich’s name keeps coming up as well – especially since he’s traveled recently to key presidential primary and caucus states.
During an event announcing more funding towards children’s health research—Kasich said he needs to make a few more trips before knowing what he wants to do.
Kasich: “Well let’s see if they like me. I think that’d be an important thing and let’s see how it all feels. So far it all feels pretty good.”
In the next two weeks Kasich plans to visit Detroit then return to South Carolina and New Hampshire.
