Labor Day Holiday Traffic Fatalities Decline From Last Year

The State Highway Patrol says the number of fatal traffic crashes over the Labor Day weekend declined from the same time last year. There were 11 fatalities this holiday period, compared with 16 last year. Troopers arrested 804 people for drunken or impaired driving, an increase of 4.3 percent from last year. Drug arrests during the period were up 31 percent. Troopers credit increased enforcement efforts.
