Lawmakers again look to tighten reins on payday loan stores

Columbus, OH – For the second time in two years, state lawmakers are working to crack down on payday loan stores. The Ohio House Financial Institutions Committee plans a hearing tomorrow. Lawmakers and Ohio voters last year approved a limit on the interest rate payday lenders may charge, but many of the stores are charging about the same amount as before by tacking on extra fees. In the last of the two part series, statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen reports.
