Lawsuit Over Prisoner Inmate Suicide Revived By Federal Court

The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati says sufficient evidence exists to revive a lawsuit against a former prison doctor for the 2011 suicide of an inmate under his care. The Ohio Justice and Policy Center alleged Greg Stamper was in severe pain from damage to his nervous system but had been refused medication by Myron Shank to help ease the pain. A federal judge last year ruled Shank reasonably concluded the medications he provided hadn't worked, and Stamper had misused medication. The case now returns to the lower court.
