Legislature Approves Calamity Days Bill

The Ohio Legislature has approved a compromise bill giving Ohio school districts four extra calamity days this year. The measure lets districts use the additional days after holding school on four other scheduled days off, such as holidays or during vacations. Districts may continue to make up missed days through 30-minute increments tacked onto regularly scheduled school days. They also would have the option of using work-at-home "blizzard bags" and online lessons. Many districts have already exhausted their five allowable calamity days.
