Libertarians To Meet In Columbus This Week

As Republicans and Democrats vie to attract their 2016 national political conventions to Ohio, a third party's convention will be held in Columbus from Thursday through Sunday. More than 600 delegates are expected to attend the Libertarian Party's 2014 national political convention in downtown Columbus. Chair Kevin Knedler says the Libertarians are the only party organized nationally to see increased membership in recent years. Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Charlie Earl has been disqualified from Ohio's ballot this year in a dispute that is still being litigated. Republican Secretary of State Jon Husted disqualified Earl after his nominating petitions were challenged. Husted agreed with a hearing officer who found two Earl petitioners failed to properly disclose their employers.
