Local communities asked to upgrade tornado warning sirens

More than a dozen Franklin County communities are being asked to upgrade their outdoor tornado warning sirens.

County officials say dozens of older-model sirens contain parts that have not been made for more than ten years and need to be retrofitted. Upgrades are a less-expensive option for the communities, as a new siren costs 17-thousand dollars.
