Local Couple Indicted Again In Cemetery Scam

Delaware County Sheriff's Office

Arraignment dates are pending for a Delaware County couple indicted for a second time on charges stemming from a cemetery scam in Lewis Center.

Theodore and Arminda Martin, owners of Fairview Memorial Park, were indicted in February for defrauding 44 people. The new indictment now lists 80 counts and 67 victims. Prosecutors say the couple stole money from people who thought they were buying items for their loved one’s gravestones. The victims allegedly paid the couple for items such as grave markers, grave plots, and vaults that were never delivered. The cemetery is now in receivership. The couple also owns a cemetery in Pennsylvania.
