The Franklin County Sheriff's office says a deputy is hospitalized in critical condition and a suspect is dead after an exchange of gunfire following attempted traffic stop on the Hilltop on Saturday night.
Names of the deputy and suspect have not been released. Authorities say the deputy tried to stop a pickup truck on Clime Road and the driver fled. After a six-minute pursuit, the truck crashed in front of a gas station at Harrisburg Pike and Hopkins Avenue and shots were fired. Why the deputy tried to stop the truck is not clear.
