Local Land Banks To Demolish More Vacant Homes

The Franklin County land bank, the Columbus land bank and the Central Ohio Community Improvement Corporation plan to spend nearly 21 million dollars to demolish more than 11 hundred vacant and abandoned homes by the year 2020. The agencies have been acquiring the properties through tax foreclosures to demolish the homes more quickly. The Ohio Housing Finance Agency awarded 2.3 million dollars in federal grant money to the county land bank in October. The city has more than 5 thousand vacant structures.
