Local LGBTQ Group To Hold Alternative Pride Event

A local LGBTQ group will hold it's own pride parade this year as it's dispute with Stonewall Columbus continues.

The group called Black Queer & Intersectional Columbus says it will hold an event called Columbus Community Pride on June 16, the same day as the Columbus Pride parade hosted by Stonewall. The alternative event at Mayme Moore Park will be free, as will several events scheduled in the days leading up to it. The group has accused Stonewall of being insensitive to the needs of its members. Two members were arrested during a related protest at last year's pride parade.  Stonewall has said it will support the new event.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
