Local Relative Of Hamilton Says Leave $10 Bill Alone

yahoo.com

A relative of Alexander Hamilton says he's okay with plans to put a woman's portrait on paper currency. But he'd like the U.S. Department of the Treasury to leave the 10 dollar bill alone. Doug Hamilton of suburban Columbus is the great-great-great-great-great grandson of the late Treasury Secretary. Alexander Hamilton's image was put on the bill in 1919. Doug Hamilton says he's speaking out because it is a source of family pride. The 64-year-old IBM salesman is urging people to sign a petition and this weekend will be making his case at a series of events around the anniversary of Alexander Hamilton's death in 1804.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
