jsc.nasa.gov

Ohio native and former astronaut James Lovell commander of the Apollo 13, has been chosen to receive the first Neil Armstrong Outstanding Achievement Award. The National Aviation Hall of Fame near Dayton says the award has been established to annually recognize an exceptional aviation performance. Lovell will accept the award October 2 at the hall's annual enshrinement dinner. He is being honored for the high level of skill he showed in helping land the Apollo 13 module after a systems-crippling mishap.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
