Forbes Magazine has named Cincinnati and Cleveland as two of the 15 U.S. cities with emerging downtowns.Columbus did not make the list, despite the efforts of local politicians to improve the downtown area. Forbes says the cities have seen double-digit population growth and revitalized central business districts. Cincinnati's major projects include a 600 million dollar effort called The Banks, a retail and residential development on the Ohio riverfront, the 110 million dollar streetcar set to open in 2016, a 120 million dollar riverfront park and a 400 million dollar casino. Cleveland's projects include a casino, a new aquarium, a new convention center and a 200 million dollar mixed-use development.
