Columbus City Council last night approved legislation giving the city's development arm, the Downtown Development Corporation, the lead on engineeing and design work for removing the Main Street dam and remaking the Scioto River Downtown. Columbus Recreation and Parks Director Alan McKnight says the project is expected to begin late next year and finish in late 2015. He says the city plans to remove the dam and lower the river level.
