A Columbus man is scheduled to appear in court today on charges of trying to run down a police officer with his car. Police say 34-year-old James May twice tried to hit the officer during a traffic stop on Tamarack Boulevard on Sunday, forcing another officer to open fire on the vehicle. No one was injured, and May crashed into an unmarked police car. No word on a motive.
