Man Charged With Stealing From Health Insurer

A Sheffield Lake man faces charges of embezzling nearly 3 million dollars from the state's largest health insurance company, Medical Mutual of Ohio. 69-year-old Joseph Satava is accused of creating checks using names of customers, forging the person's signature on a check, counter-signing and depositing it into an ATM.  Satava created nearly 14-hundred checks between 1997 and 2013. Prosecutors say the checks were drawn on an account that handled billions of dollars in transactions. Satava has agreed to plead guilty and to cooperate with prosecutors.
