Man Pleads Guilty To Killing Pedestrian In Hit-And-Run Crash

Columbus Division of Police

Sentencing is scheduled October 1 for a Columbus man who has pleaded guilty to his role in a fatal 2014 hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian crossing a street. 37-year-old Jason Powell pleaded guilty to failing to stop after an accident and obstructing official business in the death of 21-year-old William Crockett, who was struck  November 1 as he was crossing Westerville Road. Police say Powell fled the scene but was apprehended the following day thanks to a tip. Crockett was not in a marked crosswalk when he was struck.
