Man Shot By Columbus Police Passes Away

Jones family

A man shot by Columbus police officers during a confrontation last week has died. 30-year-old Kareem Ali Nadir Jones died Monday at a hospital. Two officers encountered Jones on Friday evening in Franklinton walking between cars and behaving erratically. The officers fired when their conversation with him escalated and they felt threatened. Witnesses say Jones failed to follow the officers' commands to get on the ground.  A woman told detectives children were throwing rocks at her car and Jones, her sister's boyfriend, went to look for them. He was headed to her sister's home when officers encountered him.
