Manfred: Rose To Have Role At All-Star Game

mlb.com

Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred says Pete Rose will play an undetermined role during the All-Star Game in Cincinnati this summer. Manfred tells the Associated Press he has not determined a timetable to decide on Rose's application to end his lifetime ban from baseball that started in 1989 after then-commissioner Bart Giamatti determined Rose bet on the Reds while he was managing the team. Manfred plans to speak with Cincinnati Reds owner Bob Castellini on what role the club would like to have Rose play at the game. Rose is baseball's leader in most career hits. Rose played for the Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and Montreal Expos.
