Mayflies Late In Returning To Lake Erie Communities

exploringnature.org

Residents of some areas along Lake Erie say the mayflies that have been slower to show up this year have finally arrived. Case Western Reserve University professor Jessica Fox says large mayfly swarms are a sign that Lake Erie is healthy.

Fox says the insects had not been seen in full force like past years. But residents say they are now seeing thick swarms of the bugs that rise out of the water each year.
