Columbus, OH – In June, Columbus City Council formally approved the city's 2-million dollar purchase of the 58 acre Woodland Meadows apartment complex on the East side. At the time, the City had already spent 3-million dollars tearing down the buildings and maintaining the property. It's not clear whether the City will get its money back, because there has so far been little interest from private developers. Columbus Development Department officials say the land is desirable, and would like to see it used to create jobs and generate tax revenue. In the final installment of WCBE'S annual end of the year interview with Columbus' Mayor, we asked Michael Coleman about his plans for re-election and if he knows what the future of Woodland Meadows will be.
