Columbus, Oh – Last month, Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman submitted a 696-point-3 million dollar budget proposal for 2011 to City Council. The plan spends seven percent more money than what was proposed for 2010 - the largest increase in spending in several years - thanks largely to the income tax increase voters approved in 2009. In the first installment of our annual end of the year interview with the Mayor, Coleman talks about some of the fiscal issues facing Columbus and how putting together the 2011 budget was less stressful than crafting the plan for 2010.
