Kirkersville Mayor Terry Ashcraft said Friday that police chief James Hughes has died.
Ashcraft did not release a time or cause of death, but says an autopsy is pending. Hughes took over for Jeff Finley, who resigned last March, citing a hostile work environment. Finley took over for Steven DiSario, who was killed in a shooting at an area nursing home in May of last year.
