Mistakenly Freed Tennessee Murder Suspect Captured In Ohio

A man suspected in the 1997 slaying of his estranged wife in Tennessee was arrested in Texas but freed on a clerical error before being recaptured in Ohio. Wood County, Ohio, jail records show Adolphus Hollingsworth was being held Wednesday on a murder charge pending his return to Chattanooga, Tenn. The remains of Victoria Witherspoon Carr were found in 1999. The case was recently featured on TNT's crime show "Cold Justice." Hollingsworth allegedly had been living in Amarillo, where he was arrested Jan. 22 and held for officers in Hamilton County, Tenn. Potter County Sheriff Brian Thomas on Tuesday said a new employee mistakenly contacted Hamilton County, Texas, which had no warrant for Hollingsworth. He was released before the mistake was discovered Friday. Hollingsworth was nabbed Saturday in Rossford, Ohio.
