MLB Names Award After Feller

The late Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Feller is being honored by Major League Baseball with an annual award in his name. The Bob Feller Act of Valor Award will be given to a major leaguer and Hall of Famer who displays good character, assists those less fortunate, supports U.S. service members and conducts himself with dignity on and off the field. The U.S. Navy will give a companion award to one service member. Feller interrupted his baseball career to enlist in the U.S. Navy immediately after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941. He died in 2010 at the age of 92.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
