Nearly 240 Thousand Ohioans Sign Up For Health Insurance Before Latest Federal Deadline

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says nearly 244 thousand Ohioans signed up for private insurance or renewed coverage through the federal marketplace created under the Affordable Care Act. The third open enrollment period under the law ended January 31. More than 48 thousand people are in the Columbus area, The Cleveland-Akron area had the most, with more than 86 thousand.  12.7 million people nationwide have signed up for insurance or renewed coverage for 2016. That number falls in the middle of the administration's projection of 11 to 14 million initial enrollments through HealthCare.gov and state-run counterparts.
