More than a dozen Olympians are from Ohio

The U.S. Olympic Committee says 17 athletes with Ohio hometowns are among the 530 members of the American team that will compete in London starting on July 27th.

They include Katie Bell, a diver from Columbus, and weight-lifter Holley Mangold from the Dayton area. She is the younger sister of former Ohio State football player Nick Mangold. The oldest athlete is 34-year-old soccer player Heather Mitts from Cincinnati, who has already won two Olympic gold medals.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
