More Franklin County Children Living In Poverty

The Children's Defense Fund of Ohio says nearly 27 percent of Franklin County children lived in poverty in 2011, and 34 percent received food stamps. Both figures are increases over 2010. Officials say an economy that is getting better for some has yet to help poor children. Statewide, 24 percent of Ohio kids live in poverty, a rate higher than the national average. The CDF report is based on economic, education, health and safety indicators. CDF says 2011 is the latest year for which full data is available.
