Columbus, Oh – The recession and recent record high gasoline prices have many Central Ohioans re-considering regional strengths, according to a survey by the Mid Ohio Regional Planning Commission. Morpc's unscientific on-line poll drews 66-hundred respondants. A quarter are Central Ohio natives; 14 percent moved to the area for a job; 27 percent came here to go to school and stayed. Morpc director Chester Jourdan says of the 12 counties included in the survey, only Fairfield Delaware Franklin and Licking were considered competitive in attracting and retaining employers and employees. Jourdan says Morpc plans to use the survey data to draw up specific directives and work with state lawmakers on new policies and new approaches. Jourdan tells Alison Holm survey answers show Central Ohioans are concerned about climate change, job creation, transportation, and infrastructure.
