Mother Of Slain Toddler Pleads Guilty

Associated Press

The Maryland woman charged for her role in the death of her 14-month-old son pleaded guilty today to charges of involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence. Sentencing is scheduled July 23 for 25-year-old Dainesha Stevens in the beating death of Cameron Beckford. The body was found on December 31 in Big Walnut Creek, two days after Stevens reported the child missing.  Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien says the boy and his 6-year-old sister were whipped with a belt and a martial arts stick because Stevens' friend, Kurt Flood, believed they were possessed by demons. Stevens' attorney says his client is taking responsibility for failing to properly care for the child.
