Mother Of Woman Who Died In Police Custody Calls For Better Officer Training

cleveland.com

Relatives of a woman who died in Cleveland police custody last month say officers need better training on dealing with mentally ill people. The mother of 37-year-old Tanisha Anderson says her daughter died November 12 during a mental-health episode. She says her daughter was schizophrenic, and claims an officer used excessive force on her.

A Cleveland police spokesperson says autopsy results are being delayed by a toxicology screening.
