Museum Hosting Exhibit On History Of Poindexter Village

An exhibit at Ohio's history museum recognizes one of the nation's earliest public housing projects that started in Columbus.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated Poindexter Village on October 12, 1940. The exhibit, "Poindexter Village: A Portrait in Stories," opened this month at the Ohio History Center. Poindexter Village historian Reita Smith provides an audio snapshot of the exhibit, which begins with a tribute to James Preston Poindexter.

Smith hopes to have that museum completed in collaboration with the Ohio History Connection and James Preston Poindexter Foundation by the fall of 2022. She also says there's a section in the exhibit where visitors can share their own memories of the village and the future museum. The exhibit runs through September 2.
