National Night Out Is Tonight

Organizers say more than 150 neighborhoods in the Columbus area will celebrate National Night Out this evening.

Police officer Araz Alali says Columbus is one of nearly 16 thousand cities and towns participating in the effort to reduce crime and drug abuse. The National Association of Town Watch sponsors the event that runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Organizers say tonight's events include porch-light vigils, cookouts, and flashlight walks. Residents should contact their local block-watch leaders or police community liaison officers to find the events in their neighborhoods.
