Nationwide Settles Multi-State Complaints Over Data Breach

nationwideprivateclient.com

Columbus-based Nationwide Insurance has agreed to pay 5.5 million dollars to 33 states over a 2012 data breach that exposed the personal information of 1.27 million consumers. The New York attorney general's office says the information was collected to provide quotes to consumers applying for coverage.  The states allege Nationwide failed to apply a security patch to block viruses and hackers.
