New Fairfield County Jail Opens In June

sheriff.fairfield.oh.us

Fairfield County Sheriff Dave Phalen says a new 35 million dollar county jail in downtown Lancaster will be more secure. The 384-bed facility opens on June 17. It replaces three outdated and crowded jail buildings. Phalen says new locks are nearly tamper-proof. Last week, two inmates escaped from the current jail by tampering with the lock on their holding cell. The new jail has 149 security cameras and space for inmates to attend counseling and take educational classes.
