The Franklin County Dog Shelter has a new director. He's Don Winstel, who left that job in 2011 to become COO of the Ohio Wildlife Center. Winstel replaces Kaye Dickson, who left in March to run for Sheriff in an Arizona county. He was named interim dog shelter director in 2009, after a consultant found the facility euthanized too many dogs, abused animals, and was mismanaged. Winstel says he wants to improve the shelter’s relationship with rescue groups.
