New Program Helps Ohio Students Meet STEM Goals

The Ohio Academy of Science offers a new program to help high school students brain-storm ideas for new businesses or innovations as they meet state science, technology, engineering and math curriculum requirements.

The Believe in Ohio "roadmap" walks STEM students through the steps of developing and pitching their ideas as part of a statewide competition for nearly $2 million in cash awards and college scholarships.  High school STEM, business, economics and entrepreneurship teachers will also be able to apply for classroom grants and access professional development materials through the site. The effort is backed by the state Legislature, Ohio Board of Regents and Entrepreneurial Engagement Ohio, and aims to develop critical thinking skills and encourage students to be the state's future innovators and entrepreneurs.
