The Ohio Attorney General’s office is setting up a new program to help prevent abuse of senior citizens.
Ursel McElroy is the Director of the new Elder Justice Initiative. She says the idea is to bring the various resources of that office together to respond better and faster to seniors who have been the victim of abuse on a physical, emotional or financial level.
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine says Ohio’s senior citizen population is growing. He says the number of Ohioans age 60 and over will grow by 29% by the year 2020 and will grow by nearly 50% by the year 2040.
