New Year's Program Schedule on WCBE!

9pm New Year's Eve -  Toast of the Nation:  Host Rhonda Hamilton brings us music from coast to coast this New Years Eve on Toast of the Nation! With John Scofield in Boston, Wynton Marsalis in New York, Dee Alexander in Chicago and from California: Gordon Goodwins Big Phat Band. Say 'Hello 2013' with Toast of the Nation, a mixture of live and historic performances  starting at 9pm on December 31st lasting until 5am on New Year's Day on 90.5 FM! 9am New Year's Day - Writer's Talk Story Contest Special: From the radio show Writer's Talk, host Doug Dangler showcases the winners from the 2012 Year-End Writer's Talk Barnes & Noble The Ohio State University Book Store Competition at 9am. Join us for a full hour of Writer's Talk, featuring great stories written by Writer's Talk listeners and performed by Ohio State University Students!

10am - A Paul Winter Solstice: The holiday tradition continues on WCBE with Paul Winter's Winter Solstice Celebration. A dynamic musical celebration in the extraordinary acoustics of the worlds largest Gothic cathedral - New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine.  Hear a unique exploration of the solstice tradition in cultures near and far. The Paul Winter Consort is joined by musicians from all over the world, including Russia's Dimitri Pokrovsky Ensemble and gospel singer Theresa Thomasson. John Schaefer hosts the production from Living Music and Murray Street.

12pm - Dave Matthews Band: Away from the World: After taking a year off, the Dave Matthews Band returned to the studio - and the result is the album Away From The World. The title came from a line in one of their songs, and it takes on a larger meaning looking at the album as a whole. Dave has never shied away from talking about society and the need to take action to change things in the world. In this one hour radio special, you'll hear Dave talk about the songs from Away From The World, as well as highlights from the record at noon on 90.5 FM.

1pm - Song Travels: Rickie Lee Jones: Tune in for the next edition of Song Travels on 90.5 at 1pm, where two-time Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Rickie Lee Jones has been pushing down musical boundaries for over four decades with her hauntingly beautiful voice and fearless experimentation. She has carved her own unique path, collaborating with artists from Alison Krauss to Dr. John. On Song Travels, Jones employs her sultry, dynamic voice to sing some of the standards that have inspired her along the way.

2pm - It's Movie Time Year in Review Special: Join It's Movie Time hosts John Desando and Carolyn Bruck for a one hour New Year's Day special entitled "Docs & Nearly Dead Dudes", a show about some of the best documentaries of 2012, and some of the oldest actors around. That's at 2pm on  WCBE!
