Newark Places Income Tax Hike Before Voters

Newark City Council last night approved placing a .15 percent income tax increase before the voters in November. The revenue would generate 1.6 million dollars a year to help pay for road, sidewalk, and bridge repairs. The city faces an annual street-maintenance fund deficit of 2.2 million dollars, due to cuts to the state's local-government fund.
