The Strongsville School Board has rejected Mayor Tom Perciak's request to meet today with teachers and a federal mediator to settle the ongoing teacher's strike.
A board spokesperson says members are waiting for the mediator to summon both sides to talk. But Perciak continues to push for a quick resolution.
The strike over salary, benefits and working conditions is in it's third week, and this instructor is supporting the Mayor's effort.
Meanwhile, Strongsville High School student Louie LaQuatra is organizing a student walkout to protest the strike.
The teacher's union is suing the district to gain access to records on the hiring of substitute instructors and security guards during the strike. Teachers have also started picketing outside the workplaces of school board members to protest the lack of meaningful negotiations.
