Officials Pleased With Columbus Land Bank

City of Columbus

Columbus city officials say they're starting to see results from the land bank program launched several years ago.  The city has taken possession of nearly one thousand vacant and abandoned properties since the program began three years ago. Half have been sold and two-thirds of the structures demolished. The 431 properties sold by the land bank since 2012 went for 2.2 million dollars, though they had a taxable value of nearly 17.5 million.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
