Ohio To Add More Housing For Recovering Addicts

The state plans to invest 10 million dollars to expand housing options for recovering drug addicts.

The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services says the funds will boost the number of recovery beds in Ohio by almost 660. Department director Tracy Plouck says communities that had lacked recovery housing resources were given priority. She says the housing provides a stable place for addicts to rebuild their lives and helps reduce the flow of people into prisons. Ohio and many other states have seen a surge in heroin use and a sharp rise in overdose deaths.
