Ohio-Based Restaurant Chain Being Sold

Cincinnati-based Frisch's Big Boy restaurants are being sold to a private equity fund. NRD Partners I will buy all outstanding shares for 175 million dollars in a deal expected to close by the end of September. The chain owns 95 family restaurants in Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee. Its website says another 26 restaurants in the region are operated by licensees. CEO Craig Maier and marketing Vice President Karen Maier will retire, but continue as franchisees. The deal ends family ownership of the chain that dates to its first drive-thru in 1939.
