Ohio Firm Gets Federal Grant To Develop Steel For Electric Vehicle Engines

West Chester-based AK Steel Holding Corporation will receive up to 1.8 million dollars from the U.S. Department of Energy to develop an advanced electrical steel that could be used in hybrid electric vehicles.  The firm will work with Oak Ridge National Laboratories and an electric motor maker on the three-year project. They're looking to develop an engine using a high alloy steel that will be 30 percent more efficient than current designs.
