Ohio Group Puts Marijuana Ballot Measure Campaign On Hold

legalizeohio2016.org

A group gathering petition signatures to put a marijuana legalization proposal on the ballot this year has put the effort on hold amid trouble raising money for the campaign.

The Legalize Ohio 2016 campaign instead plans to partner with other advocates on efforts to legalize medical marijuana and reduce criminal penalties for possession. Its political action committee, Ohioans to End Prohibition, reported 268 dollars on hand at the end of last month. The roughly 80,000 signatures it collected could be used to qualify for a future ballot. The group plans to collect signatures for the forthcoming medical marijuana proposal from the Marijuana Policy Project and will support local decriminalization efforts.
