Ohio House Approves Anti-Marijuana Legalization Resolution

The Ohio House has approved a resolution designed to block an effort to put marijuana legalization measures before voters. Backers say the anti-monopoly resolution aims to make it harder to amend the state constitution with ballot issues that provide commercial economic benefits to few individuals or create monopolies. The resolution must clear the Legislature with a three-fifths majority before August 5 to appear on the fall ballot. Opponents argue the proposal is too broad and could have unintended consequences.
