Ohio Jobless Claims Rose Last Month

The Labor Department says claims for unemployment insurance benefits in Ohio rose by more than 23 hundred last week due to layoffs in the manufacturing, finance, communications and service sectors.

Nationally, claims rose by 18-thousand to a seasonally adjusted 354 thousand. Since January, applications have fallen by 6 percent, suggesting employers are cutting fewer jobs.
